Ear tubes and other activities

After our trip to Beech Mountain Morgan did not get a  lot of rest before it was time for his ears to get tubes. He had had a long persistant ear infection all autumn and when the infection went away the fluid staid in his ears. We thus had to get tubes for him to get the liquid out. On a cold Thursday morning the whole family had to wake up really early to be at the hospital at 6:30. After meeting some nice nurses Morgy was put to sleep and had his surgery at 7:30. The surgery itself was surprisingly quick and after leaving the hospital (and getting some breakfast on the way) the family was back home at 9:30. The plan was that tired little Morgy would stay home and sleep most of the day after the surgery. However, Morgan was anything but tired and it was deemed impossible for anyone to work from home with an overexcited Morgy so he went to daycare and had a great day there. All in all a very painless operation!

Skiing in Beech Mountain

A few weeks ago we had the great pleasure of spending a weekend in Beech Mountain, North Carolina together with some friends. For Morgan it didn't mean a lot of skiing as the ski-schools start at the age of three, but it did mean adventure in the form of a long car-trip, going to a new daycare for a few days and seeing snow for the first time (again, last year doesn't count). The 5h car trip went fine, even though mummy and daddy managed to get lost a few times (no GPS and no maps, only a google maps printout). Morgy decided to sleep a bit on the road which made the trip easier as well.

Once in beech mountain a nice cottage awaited the lucky family, but not a lot of snow. Nonetheless bravy mummy and daddy tried some skiing the following day. It turns out that even though there was no snow whatsoever elsewhere there was still enough snow for the short slopes. Mummy and daddy had quite a bit of fun while Morgy had a fever at the new daycare :( The following day the weather turned into a snowstorm however and Morgan got to spend some time playing in the snow. He even made a nice snowman with daddy! The last day mummy and daddy got to spend some good skiing time in the new snow with the sun shining while Morgan was having a blast at the daycare. It all ended with a nice afternoon ride home through a national park Morgan enjoyed it so much that he decided to sleep for another 3h.

After some more skiing (and daycare) it's time to go home; Morgan and daddy discuss the day's adventures!

After a nice nap, Morgan gets to watch Mumin on the way home. What a great end to a nice vacation!
