Halloween

As is customary in the US, Halloween was a big celebration. This being Morgan's first Halloween (technically last year was his first, but he was in France so it doesn't count) it was decided to celebrate it properly. Morgan got his own "mooh-mooh" costume which might not have been the scariest, but it was funny at least. He participated in the costume parade at his daycare with all the other kids which everyone thought was fun. He also helped deliver treats to all the trick or treaters that came to visit without eating a single one himself! All in all a very positive experience for Morgan, he would like to wear his cow-suit every day!

Here are a few pictures of the celebrations:

While Morgan is busy trying out his "mooh-mooh" costume...

..mummy is busy in the kitchen with a pumpkin. The result is pretty impressive for a first-timer

Then Morgan goes to bed in his special Halloween pyjamas

The parade at the daycare starts with the older kids (even Boba Fett is present)

Towards the end it is finally Morgan the Cow's turn to appear

What is this? A cow festival??

Of course not, the other two are dalmatians (no relation between them)

Morgan finds the whole thing hilarious

He even poses with mummy!

Back home after the daycare Morgan is eager for the trick or treater's to come

In order to calm his nerves he unpacks and assembles a sofa

Lot's of weird people visited that day, here an astronaut and a fairy

An autumn hike

A few weeks ago we decided to go for a small autumn hike. The original plan was to do a full day hike, but due to the amount of unpacked boxes in the house as well as the need to get some furniture we decided to only do a 4h hike. In any case, the drive back and forth added another 3h to the trip.

We drove up to Vogel State Park where there are a few hiking trails and some campsites. To our surprise it was quite a bit colder "up" in the mountains (the difference is only a few hundred meters) and autumn had progressed quite a bit further as well. Fortunately there was a small shop on the spot so we could buy gloves for Morgan. The hike itself was very nice and Morgan was a happy bunny for most of it. During the break he got a bit cold though and we had to add a layer of clothing for him.

Next time we will do the full day hike though!

Morgan is in the backpack, sunglasses are on. We're ready to go!

The sunglasses came off pretty quickly and Morgan wanted a hat instead. Daddy is trying to figure out where to go

Morgan was enjoying all the leaves

More trees and leaves

Towards the end of the first half Morgan was getting a bit cold.

A break and more clothing was needed

Not to forget some snacks

There was also time for a family picture

And we're on the road again

Even though the autumn had advanced quite far here, there were still lots of different colours

After the hike Morgan enjoys stretching his legs around the lake

And the view from daddy's shoulders

The House

We finally moved to our new house a few weeks ago. While the temporary housing was nice, it is nicer still to have our own house and in particular to finally get the rest of our things. We've been living out of suitcases for over 2 months, some of Morgan's clothes that were recovered are already too small.

When we decided that we were moving to Atlanta our first thought was: let's get a flat in the city close to everything. However, our 2nd thought was: close to what exactly? The only thing we knew in Atlanta was mummy's work and that is far outside the city. So we decided to re-iterate our plans and go all-in on the American Dream instead with a house in the suburbs (close to mummy's work). And now we finally have it!

The actual move was quite a mess and with 147 boxes to unpack there's still quite a few lying around here and there. But after a few days of unpacking and a weekend spent playing for Morgy everyone now feels very comfortable in the house and is happy with the move (Moose the cat was happy from the start).

Here's some footage from the move and our first experiences:

The actual move was an interesting experience, the car was packed but Morgy enjoyed it. Moose enjoyed it a bit less

With boxes everywhere the kitchen is a mess!

The "Master bedroom" is not in a much better state. Even daddy seems lost

Morgy's room is tidy though and Morgan is happy to get his old bed back (and the soft toys)

Morgan the ghost couldn't sleep that well the first night and decided to haunt the house instead...

...until daddy read him a nice book.

The first weekend in the house and Morgan finally gets to explore it in full daylight. The "Sun Room" is a clear favourite

While mummy is busy cleaning the cupboards...

...Morgan is busy on the phone.

Morgan gets to play in the backyard; intimidating at first but he enjoys it in the end

Morgan also got to go for a walk in the forest with daddy. He enjoyed it so much that he fell asleep. Here back home a sleepy Morgan is still a bit subdued

A gate was installed on top of the stairs. Morgan loves trying to take it down

Morgan also loves roaming the house in a bathrobe

A view of the backyard from the sun room

Morgan enjoys eating in the new house

But most of all he likes playing in the back yard with a ball

And without a ball

The outside fireplace is a very interesting place

One day when daddy open the cupboard he found a Morgan inside

Fortunately Officer Morgan arrived to restore the order
